Granite Pointe is rich with history dating back to 1919 when a group of men felt a golf course was absolutely essential for any town with pretension of being up to date. Granite Pointe’s first year of operations as a nine hole course was in 1920. Membership fees were $10 for men and $5 for ladies. A lot has changed since then (the course underwent a major overhaul and expansion to 18 holes in 1993), but it remains a vital part of the Nelson Community.

Victoria has more whale watching boats leave their harbour than any other place on Vancouver Island. The reason is three fold: One, there are more tourists here than any other Vancouver Island destination. Two, the areas around Victoria are considered a great region to not only see Humpback whales but also Orcas.

The Parliament Buildings are a landmark in Victoria, the capital of British Columbia.  Construction of this great architectural building started in 1893 and was lead by a 25-year-old architect by the name of Francis Rattenbury. During Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897, construction was deemed complete, however,

details, refinishing, additions and upgrades were ongoing right up until 1915. Francis Rattenbury and his crew made an effort to use local materials, resources and expertise when building the Parliament Buildings, as during this time in B.C.It was important to both him and the government to support local businesses. Granite rock foundations were brought in from nearby Nelson Island, the site facades were locally imported from Haddington Island, and most of the local brick, lime and Douglas Fir were accumulated from areas around Vancouver Island.

This introduces to Abraham's geographical location, chronology, religion, and the composition of Genesis and the Pentateuch.

As we begin our study of the life of Abraham, we ll be traveling back through time nearly 4,000 years into a semi-nomadic, Middle Bronze Age culture far removed from our own. While many of the customs will be explained in the lessons to follow, here s an introduction to Abraham s life and times. (Note: Unless otherwise designated, all scripture references are to Genesis.)

You can t adequately sum up Abraham s career in a single paragraph, but for the sake of perspective, here s an attempt:

Abraham was a semi-nomadic shepherd to whom God revealed himself, made promises, and entered into covenant concerning Abraham s offspring and the land that they would inherit in the future. Abraham s belief in these promises was counted by God as righteousness and his faith shaped his life. Ultimately these promises find their fulfillment in Jesus the Messiah and all those who trust in Yahweh, the true God, Abraham s spiritual children.
