Dating a Single Mom can be frustrating at times and put you in situations that you just don’t want to deal with, but the rewards are far greater than you can imagine. Single moms are strong independent women who can take care of themselves, their kids, and a house on their own. They have learned how to handle any type of situation that comes their way, how to juggle multiple distractions and tasks at a time, and the importance to keep trying and moving forward.

Dating a Single mom is much different than dating someone without kids. All the normal rules of dating are thrown out the window. We don’t have time for games, or immaturity. One of the biggest myths about single moms is that we are clingy and wanting to settle down right away. While this is true for some, the majority of single moms, the exact opposite is true.

We are so consumed and focused on just getting by and handling the day to day responsibilities and tasks that there is no time to daydream or be needy. As well as, we are focused on doing what is in the best interest for our kids and families, that we don’t want to settle down with just anybody; We want to be with the person God has called us to be with.

It’s no one’s Plan A. But being a single mom does not mean you’re destined for the welfare line, free school lunches for your kids, or living in your parents’ basement.

The first step is to convince yourself that your new life will be one that is full, joyous and financially rich. For some people, it can take a long time to believe. Maybe you’ll have to fake it till you make it (as they say). But nothing is possible unless you can see the end goal.

Love it or hate it, your finances are one of the biggest parts of your life. Sadly, there are millions and millions of single moms out there that are giving their finances the attention that they deserve. It can be difficult being a single mom, but not taking the proper financial steps is going to make it a thousand times worse.

When an unplanned pregnancy happens, women in relationships have a reasonable expectation that the baby's father will be around and help out with the child-rearing, even if the relationship doesn't last. However, that isn't always the case. While pregnant women will carry a very public notice of their impending motherhood nestled under their shirt, men who choose to skip out on parenthood can just go on with their lives.

When faced with that decision in 2006, author Christine Coppa chose motherhood. She explores her road from the sexy life of a young editor in Manhattan to single motherhood in her new memoir, Rattled! , due out from Broadway Books on April 14.

i know how you feel. I was 18 when i got married and pregnant. He was very abusive. I finally left him. But honestly it is not as hard as it seems. There is always a way to make it even if it is a little bit rough you ll love every second of it. Once you have the baby you ll know that it was so worth it. I had the same doubts and thoughts that you did but once i had the baby in my arms everything was perfect. Not literally but it felt perfect. and the baby is what will help you get through everything. Money is stressful but there is always a way and help if you need it. and don t worry hun SIDS isn t as common as you would think. as long as you are putting them to bed correctly it will be fine. Just go get the book what to expect when you are expecting. It has TONS of great information. But trust me hun once you have the baby your motherly instincts will kick in like crazy:) and a lot of the stress you are having is most likely pregnancy hormones.

Men here know there are countless reasons dating a single mother is a terrible idea.  Any man who unwittingly wanders into the clutches of one of these harpies is doomed from the start. Once she has her talons in him he’s stuck raising another man’s offspring and before he knows it, she’s off looking for an alpha fux (her ex in a lot of cases) to compliment her beta bux.  A no win situation for the poor sap.

“I need to run in for cigarettes.   Can you watch Timmy while I run in?”   DON’T DO IT.  Watching Timmy for four minutes will turn into watching him, his spoiled rotten sister,  and  his kid brother who needs his ADD medication every 30 minutes on a while she and her slutty friends have girl’s night out.

well the way i see it, you being a young single mother don t have the worlds best judgement in the first place, and of course you would be on a dating website a month after breaking an engagement. that s just the kind of stuff you would do.

When I first became a single mom, I made myself sick by trying to come up with answers to this imaginary future scenario. In this imagined scene, my child was asking: “ Do I have a Daddy? ”

Still, years ago, I would have done anything to get my hands on some picture books that would have helped me. W hen my daughter was in preschool, there was a handful of books that showed what our family looked like. But not many.

Todd Parr was one of the first authors I discovered who truly illustrates the modern-day single parent family. He’s still one of my favorites. Here are some other favorite books that really show who we are. If you have any that aren’t on this list, please share
